The manganese sulphate with a corrugated 2D layer: synthesis, structure, and magnetism
We, for the first time, report the 2D manganese sulfate {[(CH3)2NH2]2Mn3(SO4)4}n (1), which is of counter-anion dimethyl amonium cations and uneven anion layers only consisting of manganese sulphates. The whole molar magnetic susceptibility of 1000 Oe can be fit to a simple Curie-Weiss fit with CMn = 4.5 (1) cm3 K mol-1 and θ = 2zJS(S+1)/3kB = -24.5 K confirming that all the interactions in this system are very similar and of the order of magnitude around J/kB = -0.7 K. An Heisenberg S = 5/2 trimer model (H = -2J(S1S2+S2S3)) is working well to fit the data down to 19 K with J/kB = -2.2(1) K and g = 1.99(5)
