From the Editor\'s Desk
Dear Friends, Wish you all a very festive and happy New Year 2026.We hope to keep on providing you the best of Case reports in the field of Critical care like previous years.I would suggest to the Executive committee Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) create a web-based platform for the readers to post their comments on Indian Journal of Critical Care Case Report (IJCCR) and Indian Journal of Critical Care Medicine (IJCCM) quality, e.g., case selection, write-up, etc. This will help us to raise the standard of our publication. We hope to get IJCCR indexed this year and are actively working towards it.We would be selecting best case reports from the year 2024 which will get due recognition in our annual congress to be held in Chennai in February 2026.Multidisciplinary approach is becoming a norm in critical care as many of the cases are complex and affects various organs.A similar case has been described in a patient with subarachnoid hemorrhage and associated myocardial infarction where experts need to communicate in order to find a balanced approach to the problem.Massive hemoptysis is always a clinical challenge therapeutically.Double lumen endotracheal tube is sometimes used to isolate a lung in these situations. As this is an uncommon procedure, complications may occur and a case has been described.Fungal renal infections are difficult to treat and specially so in a transplanted kidney.A case has been described of mucormycosis in this issue.Melioidosis is being increasingly recognized mainly in the coastal regions of India. This infection requires prolonged treatment with antibiotics. If faced with an antibiotic related complication during treatment, this may have to be shortened and its effect on outcome has been described in a case report.Hemophagocytic syndrome secondary to tropical infections has been well described, but its occurrence with autoimmune hemolytic anemia is less well known and is described in this issue.Uncommon manifestations of common diseases are always important to recognize.Similar finding has been described in a case of leptospirosis in this issue.Alternative medicines are frequently used in our country and can only be recognized by a thorough clinical history, which is usually missed in a busy ICU environment. These medications may present with various adverse reactions, which may be life threatening sometimes as is described in this issue.Procedural complications are usually described in this journal and are important to read to avoid duplicating such mistakes.Abnormal placements of central venous catheter, which is difficult to detect during placement is being described in this issue. We hope these case reports will be enjoyable and learning reading for you.
