THE ROLE OF FINANCIAL LITERACY IN SHAPING WOMEN'S MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENT BEHAVIOUR
Financial literacy has emerged as a crucial determinant of investment behaviour, especially among women, who often encounter societal, cultural, and informational barriers that limit their participation in formal financial markets. Mutual funds, being regulated, diversified, and accessible investment avenues, provide women with a structured platform for long-term wealth creation. However, the level of financial literacy significantly influences how women perceive risk, evaluate investment options, and make informed decisions. This study, based entirely on secondary data, analyzes the role of financial literacy in shaping women’s mutual fund investment behaviour. The analysis draws from published research papers, AMFI and SEBI reports, government publications, and industry surveys to identify patterns, awareness levels, behavioural tendencies, and the challenges faced by women investors. The study highlights that financial literacy enhances investment confidence, improves risk understanding, encourages systematic investment habits, and promotes better portfolio diversification among women.
