Emergent Phase-Space Structure of CP Violation in Three-Body B Decays
This work presents a model-independent analysis of CP violation in three-body decays of charged B mesons, based exclusively on published LHCb Dalitz-plot measurements. Instead of focusing on amplitude reconstruction, the study investigates the spatial organization of CP-asymmetry signs in phase space. A simple nearest-neighbour phase-space coherence measure (M²) is introduced to quantify whether local CP asymmetries are randomly distributed or form extended, sign-coherent domains. Applying this method to multiple decay channels and data-taking periods, the analysis demonstrates that CP violation exhibits robust, statistically significant phase-space coherence, inconsistent with random local fluctuations. The coherence is shown to be dynamically modulated: regions associated with low invariant masses and strong final-state interactions (rescattering), defined independently by the experimental collaboration, display systematically different coherence behavior compared to their complements. This establishes that the organization of CP violation is selected by decay dynamics, rather than being a uniform or purely local effect. An additional sign–magnitude separation test reveals that the sign of the CP asymmetry remains highly coherent even when the magnitude varies strongly, supporting an interpretation of CP violation as a phase-orientation phenomenon rather than a smoothly varying amplitude effect. All results are obtained using permutation tests, robustness checks, and falsification null models, without introducing new weak phases or modifying the Standard Model. The analysis highlights phase-space structure as an independent physical observable and suggests that matter–antimatter asymmetry in multi-body decays manifests through dynamically selected phase orientations.
