Cut or Conserve? Rethinking Surgical Strategy in Neurofibromatosis Type 2
A bstract We report the case of an 18-year-old male with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) who presented with right foot weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple lumbosacral neurofibromas; a symptomatic L5 lesion was excised, while smaller noncompressive lesions were preserved. This case highlights the surgical dilemma in NF2 of balancing tumor resection with functional preservation and underscores the importance of long-term imaging surveillance.
