Interventions to improve management of trigeminal neuralgia in primary care

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) presents diagnostic and therapeutic challenges for general dental practitioners (GDPs), especially due to its overlap with other orofacial pain conditions and the need for pharmacological intervention. As the first point of contact, GDPs play a crucial role in early recognition and referral. A quality improvement project was undertaken in primary care to enhance the awareness and confidence of local GDPs in diagnosing and managing TN.
