Determination of Mixing Ratios of PPS and H-BN Composites Heatsink to be Produced with FDM In Natural Convection by Thermal Analysis

This study aimed to create a polymer matrix composite that can be produced with FFF for rapid prototyping heat sinks in applications where thermal conductivity and electrical insulation are needed. PPS polymer was selected as the polymer matrix and h-BN was selected as the reinforcement element. Thermal analyses of composites with different mixing ratios were performed and the optimum mixing ratio was determined. After thermal analysis with the baseline heat sink. The mixture ratios to be used in the composite material were selected. The baseline heat sink design was optimized. Thermal analysis was repeated with the optimized heat sink. 14% decrease was observed in the maximum temperature on the fin. The design with a 80%PPS/20% h-BN mixture ratio was 14% lighter than the 6061 Al alloy heat sink and showed competitive results.
