SYNTHESIS OF NEW ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ADDITIVES FOR MOTOR FUELS

The rapid growth of the transportation sector and the continued dependence on internal combustion engines have significantly contributed to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and the depletion of non-renewable energy resources. Motor fuels such as gasoline and diesel remain the primary energy sources for vehicles worldwide, yet their combustion produces harmful pollutants including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur compounds, and particulate matter. In this context, fuel additives play a crucial role in improving fuel quality, enhancing combustion efficiency, reducing emissions, and protecting engine components. Traditional fuel additives, although effective, often pose environmental and health risks due to their toxicity and poor biodegradability. This has led to increasing scientific interest in the development of environmentally friendly, sustainable, and high-performance fuel additives. The present article explores the synthesis, classification, chemical characteristics, and functional mechanisms of new eco-friendly motor fuel additives. Particular attention is given to oxygenated compounds, bio-based additives, metal-free catalytic agents, and multifunctional additives derived from renewable raw materials..
