Absolute zero-contrast intravascular ultrasound guided renal angioplasty: A case report

Renal artery stenting is a viable option for patients with renal artery stenosis (RAS) with deteriorating renal function causing refractory hypertension despite medical therapy.Traditional renal angioplasty requires use of contrast medium ,posing a risk of contrast-induced nephropathy(CIN) in patients with renal insufficiency. We present a case of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guided zero-contrast coronary and renal angioplasty in a patient with RAS and an obstructive coronary artery disease.IVUS was used for the precise visualization of the renal artery, facilitating successful angioplasty without use of contrast. This approach not only minimised the risk of CIN but also provided successful clinical outcomes for our patient.

Abstract
