Reasons-based artificial agents

Can artificial agents be moral agents themselves? In this paper, I develop the foundations of reasons-based artificial agents, and I argue that it is superior to some alternatives to AI ethics. I focus on reinforcement-learning agents for concreteness, discussing some methodological issues along the way.
