Robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of interaortocaval paraganglioma: A single center experience
Interaortocaval paragangliomas (PGLs) pose significant surgical challenges. We evaluated the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of robotic-assisted laparoscopic resection for these tumors. We retrospectively collected and analyzed the medical records of 12 consecutive patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of interaortocaval PGLs from January 2020 to June 2025. Mean tumor size was 4.81±1.97 cm. All tumors were successfully resected without intraoperative complications. One patient experienced self-resolving chylous leakage; others had no postoperative complications. Mean operative time was 150.80±60.86 min, and mean blood loss was 101.70±105.00 mL. Postoperative hospitalization ranged from 2–5 days. Pathology confirmed PGL in all cases. During a median follow-up of 19.5 months, all patients maintained normal metanephrine levels and showed no evidence of recurrence/metastasis. The surgical strategy of robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of interaortocaval paraganglioma is safe and effective.
