Effects of various phases and errors on partial volume estimation in the analysis of PV correction in ASL MRI
Arterial spin labelling (ASL) MRI is widely used to measure cerebral blood flow (CBF). The low resolution of ASL images causes partial volume (PV) effect that causes an erroneous estimation of CBF values. A two-phase study is conducted to investigate the impact of various factors on the PV correction technique using linear regression. The effects of different stages in the PV estimation process are examined in the first phase, and the impact of noise and blurring on PV estimates on the second phase. Experiments are conducted on simulated PCASL images generated from ADNI and the results are validated using RMSE score and ROI analysis.
