Pharmacists' knowledge, attitudes and practices toward herbal medicine: An integrative review

Herbal medicine is widely used as a complementary and alternative therapeutic approach, and accurate identification of medicinal plants is essential for ensuring safety and efficacy. Pharmacists play a critical role in guiding patients on herbal product use; however, insufficient understanding of plant morphology may hinder their ability to evaluate authenticity, quality, and safety. This review synthesizes global evidence on pharmacists’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward herbal medicine, highlighting how phytomorphological understanding enhances their professional competence and contributes to safer dispensing practices.
