Design and Implementation of an Application-Layer IPv4-to-IPv6 Identifier Translation and Logging Module in a Controlled Security Laboratory

This work presents the design and implementation of an application-layer IPv4-to-IPv6 identifier translation and logging module deployed in a controlled security laboratory. Unlike network-level translation mechanisms, the system derives deterministic IPv6-formatted identifiers from observed IPv4 addresses exclusively for observability, correlation, and experimental analysis. The module operates without IPv6 transport, external services, or databases, emphasizing reproducibility, transparency, and ethical constraints. The work demonstrates that IPv6-oriented analytical identifiers can be effectively explored in IPv4-only environments without introducing routing or protocol dependencies.
