A Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach For Selecting The Apt Heterogeneous Wireless Network Using The Entropy Weight, MOORA, MAIRCA, MOOSRA Methods: A Comparative Study

In today's world, wireless technology has become an essential component of our daily routines. Within this realm, heterogeneous wireless networks (HWNs) have surfaced as a viable solution, amalgamating various radio access technologies (RATs) like WiFi, 4G, 5G, and forthcoming innovations. HWNs stand out for their capacity to autonomously choose and transition between network technologies based on variables such as signal strength, current network traffic, and specific user service needs. Present-day wireless networks encompass a multitude of technologies, each with distinct features and applications, including General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), each serving different purposes owing to their individual strengths and weaknesses. The diversity and complexity of these elements have made the selection of suitable access networks within HWNs a challenging endeavor, necessitating intelligent and sophisticated resource management solutions. To address this challenge, researchers have delved into multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodologies, which have proven effective in identifying the optimal heterogeneous wireless network. This study proposes employing MCDM techniques: Multi-Objective Optimization Ratio Analysis (MOORA), Multi-Attribute Ideal-Real Comparative Assessment (MAIRCA), and Multi-Objective Optimization on the basis of Simple Ratio Analysis (MOOSRA) to pinpoint the most suitable heterogeneous wireless network. The findings consistently place WiMAX at the top. These outcomes hold significance for the practical implementation of wireless networks and offer valuable insights for formulating policies geared towards developing new technologies that align with user needs. Keywords: HWNs, MCDM method, MOORA method, WIMAX, MAIRCA method, MOOSRA method. DOI: https://doi.org/10.35741/issn.0258-2724.60.4.7
