Integrated methanol production strategy based on hydrothermal gasification

The transition from reliance on fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is accelerating at a remarkable pace. In this context, hydrothermal gasification (HTG) was investigated. Given its considerable energy demands, integration with green methanol production via excess heat utilization were proposed. The modeling and simulation were conducted through an integrated use of Aspen Plus and Aspen Energy Analyzer (AEA) software packages, enabling a practical assessment of the operational and managerial conditions as well as the potential performance of the integrated system. Based on the critical conditions identified in the existing literature, process conducts a sensitivity analysis within a temperature range of 400–900°C and pressures ranging from 23 to 30 MPa. This integration, coupled with energy optimization, resulted in a substantial reduction of energy consumption by 76.08 %, Given that it is capable of producing methanol with a purity of over 97 % on a semi-industrial scale in order to contributing to advancements in the field of renewable energy. • Optimization of the integrated green methanol production and gasification process. • The effect of operating parameters was investigated. • Calculation of the optimized energy amount.
