Filling Institutional Voids Under Constraint: Entrepreneurship, Regulation, and the Paradox of Control
This essay is an attempt to explore that tension—between the theoretical promise of entrepreneurship as a force for systemic progress and the practical limits imposed by contemporary governance structures—across sectors rather than within any single domain. This essay is offered not as a definitive position, but as an invitation to debate how entrepreneurship, regulation, and institutional legitimacy are being reconfigured in an era of persistent crisis. This essay argues that the modern challenge is no longer the absence of institutions alone, but the presence of rigid, control-oriented institutions that limit adaptive redesign. Innovation struggles not because entrepreneurs lack creativity or intent, but because they are increasingly required to operate within static frameworks that prioritise control, predictability, and containment over learning and evolution
