Analysis of Influence of Combustion Process on Parameters of Local Radiative Heat Transfer in Cylinder of Marine High-Speed Diesel Engines

Quantitative evaluation of the influence of the combustion process on the parameters of local radiative heat transfer in the cylinder of a marine high-speed diesel engine is a challenging problem. In modern mathematical models for calculation of local heat fluxes in the combustion chamber components, important factors are neglected, in particular the dynamics of flame torch development in the combustion chamber depending on the crankshaft angle, the local character of formation and combustion of soot particles, as well as the influence on these processes of the excess air coefficient and temperature. Experimental and calculation data on the dynamics of the development of the flame torch in the combustion chamber and on the local parameters of the processes of formation and combustion of soot particles as a function of the excess air coefficient and temperature are given. It is shown that temperature and excess air coefficient influence the local character of formation and combustion of soot particles in the combustion chamber of marine high-speed diesel engines. The purpose of this article is the presentation, discussion, and analysis of the influence of the combustion process on the parameters of local radiative heat transfer in the cylinder of such diesel engines. Calculation and experimental data on the dynamics of development of the flame torch and on the local parameters of the formation processes and combustion of soot particles may be used in the design of new mathematical models and for verification of current ones. This will open the possibility of significant improvement of the thermal condition of combustion chamber components in the design stage and reduce the development time of new high-speed diesel engine models.
