LightNet-Monitor: A Lightweight Network Traffic Analysis and Anomaly Alerting System based on Tshark
With the rapid expansion of network infrastructures, effective traffic monitoring has become essential for identifying performance bottlenecks and security threats. This technical report presents the design and implementation of LightNet-Monitor, a lightweight, web-based network traffic analysis system. Built upon the Flask framework and the Tshark packet capture engine, the system enables real-time data acquisition, multi-protocol analysis (TCP/UDP/ICMP), and automated anomaly alerting. Unlike heavy enterprise solutions, LightNet-Monitor utilizes a modular architecture with optimized SQLite storage to ensure deployability in resource-constrained environments. System testing on Windows 11 demonstrates its stability in capturing high-throughput data streams and accurately visualizing network topology.
