The Role of Subnational Investment Promotion Agencies in Supporting Global Energy Transition Policies
The global transition to sustainable energy requires effective local action, yet subnational governments often face challenges in implementing policies and attracting the necessary green international investments to stimulate their economies. We argue in this work that subnational Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) are strategic actors capable of connecting global sustainability agendas with regional development needs. Based on evidence from five Brazilian IPAs, we present actionable insights on how these agencies can catalyze the energy transition. The recommendations are subject to policymakers and IPA managers seeking to strengthen the local economy through sustainability.
