Trilogy of Prayers for World Peace, Part 2: A Historical Review and Human Awakening on the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki《
Lawrence K. Wang (王 抗 曝) (2026), Trilogy of Prayers for World Peace, Part 2: A Historical Review and Human Awakening on the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki《祈禱世界和平三部曲,第二部:原子彈轟炸日本廣島長崎之歷史回顧與人類覺醒》, Global Humanities and Liberal Arts, Volume 2026, Number 1B, 2026(1B), 54 pages, January 2, 2026; Lenox Institute Press, MA, USA. [email protected]. …. ABSTRACT: Human civilization has always advanced between light and shadow, achieving remarkable technological progress while bearing the profound costs of its own power. History continually reminds us that peace is never a given; it depends upon collective memory, moral restraint, and shared human responsibility. Universal love is not an abstract ideal but a foundational condition for the survival of civilization. The Trilogy of Prayers for World Peace consists of three interrelated studies: (1) A Historical Review and Human Awakening on Japan's Nanjing Massacre; (2) A Historical Review and Human Awakening on the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and (3) A Historical Review and Human Awakening on the Nazi Holocaust against the Jewish people. The purpose of this trilogy is not to perpetuate hatred, but to awaken global reflection through the examination of humanity's darkest moments. As the second volume of the series, this study revisits the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. These events marked the first—and to date, the only—use of nuclear weapons in warfare. Tens of thousands of civilians were killed instantly, while long-term radiation exposure caused decades of suffering, illness, and premature death among survivors. Although the atomic bombings accelerated the end of World War II, they simultaneously inaugurated a new era in which human civilization must confront the existential threat posed by nuclear weapons. Approaching the subject from humanitarian and civilizational perspectives, this study argues that the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki transcend military or political analysis. They represent a profound moral challenge to humanity, raising fundamental questions about technological ethics, human responsibility, and the value of life. Through an examination of survivor testimonies, global anti-nuclear movements, and international efforts toward nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament, this work emphasizes that the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki belong to all humankind. Ultimately, the atomic bombings remind the world that peace is never self-sustaining; only through remembrance, reflection, restraint, and shared moral awakening can humanity ensure that nuclear catastrophe never again befalls the Earth. This volume is presented in Traditional Chinese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese, with the aim of promoting cross-cultural memory education and fostering a world in which reflection leads to awakening, and awakening leads to peace. ….
