The surgical procedure in managment of peroneal tendon disclocation : A case series
Injury to the peroneal tendon is one of the ankle pathologies that causes pain and is often misdiagnosed as an ankle sprain. There is a wide variety of peroneal tendon injuries, ranging from tears to chronic dislocation, depending on the mechanism of injury. Dislocation of the peroneal tendon can be treated conservatively or surgically. There are several surgical techniques for the repair of peroneal tendon subluxation: direct retinaculum repair; deepening of the retro malleolar groove; tendon graft reconstruction; bone block procedure and tendon rerouting procedure. We report a series of 8 peroneal tendon dislocations at our facility. All eight patients presented with ankle pain and instability following trauma. Retro malleolar pain was revealed in all patients, in addition to instability. All 8 patients underwent open repair of the peroneal tendon.... After the operation, patients were able to partially bear body weight after 3-4 weeks. Full range of motion was restored 6 weeks after surgery.
