Electrodynаmic Processes in Power-Supply Systems with an Inverter Switch-on Distributed Generation Source

A simulation model for a virtual synchronous generator in the structure of power-supply systems with distributed generation is considered. The model contains blocks for controlling active power and frequency and reactive power and voltage, as well as a virtual inertia block. To evaluate the efficiency of the virtual synchronous generator algorithm, it has been compared with a conventional inverter that is unable to dampen frequency and voltage oscillations, as well as with a common synchronous generator. The simulation of the three operation modes (autonomous power supply, parallel operation with a centralized electric-power system, and comparison with a classical synchronous generator) have shown that a virtual synchronous generator provides a decrease in the rate of changes in frequency and amplitude of oscillations, as well as a decrease in the duration of transient processes owing to a virtual damper.
