Extraskeletal Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma of the Arm: A Rare Case Report with a Review of Literature
Abstract Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is a rare, aggressive cartilaginous tumor that can develop in both skeletal and extraskeletal tissues. It exhibits a characteristic biphasic histological pattern, consisting of a densely cellular stroma of primitive spindle-shaped cells interspersed with regions of chondroid differentiation. While it most frequently originates within the skeleton, occurrences in extraskeletal sites such as meninges, orbit and lower limbs have also been documented. Occurrence of extraskeletal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (EMC) in the arm is rare, with few cases described in published literature. We hereby report a case of EMC of the right arm in a 49-year-old man that was initially diagnosed on a trucut biopsy.
