ALÉM DAS PALAVRAS E SONS: a construção de sentidos por meio da análise musical
This article proposes a reflection on the multiple pathways of meaning-making through musical analysis, moving beyond merely structural perspectives to encompass intertextual, performative, and poetic-musical dimensions. Music is conceived not merely as a formal object but as a dynamic field of signification, continuously negotiated through the interplay of text, context, and interpretive practice. Central to this discussion is Bakhtin’s notion of the chronotope, which provides a critical lens for understanding how categories of time and space are inscribed within musical works and condition their aesthetic reception. By integrating methodologies from music theory, literary studies, and discourse analysis, the article argues that musical meaning emerges both from its sonic materiality and from the narratives, metaphors, and cultural frameworks that mediate its interpretation. In this sense, musical analysis is redefined as a mediating practice between work, performer, and listener, foregrounding music not as a static structure but as a lived, dialogical experience of meaning.
