HEREDITARY Findability Platforms Landscape

This landscape, part of HEREDITARY's Deliverable 3.6, surveys the main portals, services and platforms we can use to raise the findability of HEREDITARY datasets, comparing each by scope, discovery options, data transfer, cost, and access control. Based on the analysis, the recommended, low-friction mix is to: (1) submit data/metadata to EGA/FEGA when data transfer is allowed (archival, governance, PIDs…); (2) always publish dataset metadata to HIP (HealthDCAT-AP) and register the catalogue for harvesting by data.europa.eu; (3) create dataset-level Zenodo records, including minimal details and files (e.g., Data Access Policies); (4) use BioStudies for a citable study-level landing page that links to the other records; and (5) expose a Beacon v2 endpoint for federated discovery without centralising data. This set is EU-aligned, free to use, has human and programmatic discovery, and minimises development overhead while supporting Task 3.6's FAIRification goals and 1+MG/GA4GH practices.
