Knowle: A Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Exchange Platform
The rapid expansion of digital education has democratized access to information but often lacks the social interactivity and scalability of traditional classrooms. To address these limitations, this paper proposes Knowle, a scalable peer-to-peer (P2P) knowledge exchange platform built on a Microservices Architecture. Unlike monolithic E-learning systems, Knowle decouples core functionalities—such as user management, real-time communication, and administration—into independent services that communicate via Redis Pub/Sub message brokers. The platform facilitates a barter-based learning economy where users exchange skills without financial transactions. Key technical innovations include a dedicated Communication Service using Socket.io for real-time interaction and an isolated Admin Support Service for dispute resolution. This distributed architecture ensures high availability, fault tolerance, and the ability to handle concurrent user matching efficiently.
