README: Crowd-Grid and Recent Heat Packs

This is the README for the Crowd-Grid gridded dataset and associated Recent Heat Packs. The Crowd-Grid dataset comprises daily maximum/minimum temperatures (2013-2024) on 1km grids for the UK. It uses crowdsourced and 3rd party observations to give a detailed view of the temperatures people experience, including in built-up areas. Crowd-Grid differs from and complements HadUK-Grid, the Met Office's standard gridded dataset that constitutes the official climate record. In addition, a set of Recent Heat Packs make the Crowd-Grid information more accessible. These provide for each of 393 UK local authorities: a 2-page Recent Heat Factsheet, which complements the Climate Report in the Met Office's Local Authority Climate Service 3 .csv files with data for the local authority and its constituent census areas Both datasets are available from the CEDA archive: Crowd-Grid Gridded Climate Observations on a 1km grid over the UK (2013-2024, v1.0, prototype) Recent Heat Packs for local areas in the UK (prototype, v1.0) ATTENTION: This is a prototype.
