Clinical Presentation of Infectious Mononucleosis Among Young Adults in India: A Review of Diagnostic Criteria and Common Misdiagnoses

Infectious mononucleosis, a viral disease caused by Epstein–Barr virus, is an acute clinical syndrome that mostly affects adolescents and young adults. The disorder is still not recognized in India because the symptoms are similar to those of bacterial and tropical fever leading to frequent misdiagnosis. To conduct a systematic review of the clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, and common misdiagnoses of infectious mononucleosis in young adults in India.
