Blockchain Adoption in Donation Systems: A Comparative Review and User Study

This study examines the limitations of traditional donation systems and investigates how blockchain technology can address key challenges related to trust, transparency, and accountability. Drawing on a structured literature review, it analyzes existing proposals that leverage blockchain features—such as decentralization, immutability, and smart contract automation—to enhance donation processes. A comparative evaluation based on the ISO/IEC 25010 software quality model contrasts traditional and blockchain-supported donation systems across core quality characteristics. In addition, an exploratory user survey captures perceptions of transparency, usability, and trust in donation platforms. The findings highlight blockchain’s potential to improve transparency, security, and cost efficiency, while also revealing persistent barriers in usability and adoption. The study identifies trade-offs between technical innovation and user-centered design and outlines directions for future research and system development.
