Professional Perspectives on Renewable Energy-Integrated Smart Ports for Agricultural Supply Chain Optimization

This study examines how experienced maritime professionals understand the integration of renewable energy systems with smart port technologies for optimizing agricultural supply chains. Through interviews with ten maritime professionals who have Port and Shipping Management education and ten years of industry experience, the research explores their views on technical feasibility, implementation challenges, and educational adequacy for emerging industry changes. Results show sophisticated professional understanding of renewable energy integration potential combined with realistic assessment of implementation complexity and unanimous recognition that educational systems need urgent transformation. Participants demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities for evaluating smart port technologies while emphasizing workforce development requirements and phased implementation approaches that balance transformation goals with operational reliability needs. Their insights on agricultural supply chain optimization reflect systems thinking that extends beyond traditional maritime boundaries to include food security and environmental sustainability considerations.
