The Design of Photovoltaic Water Pumping System for An Integrated Farming in Yogyakarta

The agricultural land of the Pandes Asri I experiences limited agricultural water supply. This is caused by agricultural land being far from access to electricity and water sources so that the agricultural productivity is not optimal. Therefore, there is a need for Photovoltaic Water Pump System (PVWPS) technology intervention as a solution. The purpose of this research is to design PVWPS based on water need in the defined location. Analysis of water needs is carried out based on climate and plant conditions using CROPTWAT 8.0 and CLIMAT 2.0 software. Furthermore, the design of PVWPS is based on pump capacity, solar panels which all relate to water needs. The Analysis shows that water needs are influenced by soil type, weather, planting patterns and crop management. The results of the analysis show that the peak daily water need for 1000 m2 of agricultural land occurs in September at 0.5184 m3, thus requiring minimum power for the pump (P_e) of 86,6 watts, 0,98 m2 PV module, and 136 Ah/12 Vdc Battery.
