Design and Simulation of Noni Fruit Extraction Machine Using a Hot Dry Steam (HDS) System

This study aims to design a machine for extracting noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia) using a Hot Dry Steam (HDS) system. The HDS system combines dry heat and hot steam to enhance the extraction process and produce higher-quality extracts. This system helps maintain essential compounds, such as scopoletin and flavonoids, which are easily damaged by heat and chemicals. The machine was designed using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and analyzed with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to study the mechanical and thermal behavior at a temperature of 300 °C and pressure of 3 MPa. The simulation showed that the highest deformation was 0.15198 mm, and the highest stress was 218.06 MPa. The lowest safety factor was 1.0974. The simulation also showed that steam inside the tank spreads evenly, which helps the extraction process work better. This HDS system is suitable for further development in small to medium-scale herbal extract industries because of its efficiency, cleanliness, and environmental friendliness.
