Terugwinning van metalen uit de platinagroep in elektrokatalytische nanodeeltjes door middel van gasdiffusie-elektrokristallisatie (GDEx)
The PhD project focuses on the recovery of platinum group metals (PGMs) using the gas-diffusion electrocrystallization (GDEx) process. It addresses the EU's need for sustainable PGM supply chains by developing innovative methods to recycle end-of-life products. The research aims to elucidate the GDEx process mechanisms, synthesize high-surface-area PGM nanoparticles, and benchmark their applications in catalysis. The project is structured to develop new materials, advance the GDEx process, and demonstrate its application at an industrial scale, contributing to the sustainable recovery of platinum group metals. The research aligns with EU decarbonization goals and the valorization of PGM recovery technologies through licensing or spin-off ventures.
