Een Tafel en een Lichaam: Ultimologie ontsluiten, een praktijk van aandacht schenken aan eindes
I propose to initiate and through artistic practice develop a cross-disciplinary concept that addresses an urgent need for new questions and rituals in an educational context. This concept is entitled Ultimology, or the study of that which is dead or dying, meaning no longer alive, current, relevant, widely used, or functioning. I will do this by creating diverse art works, events, rituals and curatorial interventions borne out of interview-led research and including activities and performance that will enact academic practices in ways that foregrounds actualisation and potentiality. I will actively embed Ultimology in the university as a useful concept or term. Formally, the work will be situated (sometimes uncannily) at the intersection of artistic and academic practice thus providing a framework where the ritualistic, performative and embodied elements of knowledge production and the ontological potentialities of artistic practice can be tested, developed and critiqued.
