Effect of histone demethylation on differentiation of pancreatic beta cells derived from induced pluripotent cells
Diabetes mellitus is one of the most frequent causes of mortality in the world, and its close etiological relationship with obesity makes the increase in prevalence continuously higher, especially in developing countries. Diabetes mellitus consists of two main clinical pictures: type 1 diabetes mellitus, characterized by the destruction of insulin-producing cells due to an autoimmune attack, and type 2 diabetes mellitus, in which the deterioration of insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells is partial, and insulin activity is impaired by resistance to its action in the tissues. Multiple therapeutic plans exist for chronic diabetes therapy, including subcutaneous insulin administration. However, the presence of cardiovascular complications means that the life expectancy and quality of life of diabetics are significantly impaired.
