Grote-oppervlaktegroei van MoS2 en MoTe2 via APCVD: Invloed van organische en anorganische zaadpromotoren op de banduitlijning van TMD's met SiO2

Tummala Pinakapani, a first year doctoral student in international PhD program in science between Universita cattolica del sacro cuore and K.U Leuven in collaboration with National Research Council of Italy - Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems Unit of Agrate Brianza. His experimental work mainly carried out in CNR-IMM lab. Tummala's experimental activity mainly focuses on the synthesis of such 2D TMD materials, in particular MoS2, on a large scale using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The physical, optical and morphological properties of the so-grown MoS2 is obtained using many characterization techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Furthermore, research activities are addressed to the integration of such TMDs on different substrates, such as SiO2, sapphire, metals, flat and differently patterned, and on the development of heterostructures. His expertise and results make a strong route map for synthesizing large-area MoS2 nanosheets that are useful for several potential applications and devices in nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, energy storage, etc. In the following, Tummala work as follows: Internal photo-emission (IPE) study of band alignment measurements with MoS2 using different growth promoters (such as perylene, salts etc) to understand the role of dipoles forming at the substrate/MoS2 interface and on flat versus patterned substrates to study the effect of strain induced by local distortions induced by design geometry on the MoS2 layers.
