Smrt, skrivnost ali sovraštvo? Korpusna raziskava medijskega diskurza o femicidu v ameriških in srbskih spletnih novicah
This thesis examines the discursive construction of femicide in Serbian and American media through a comparative corpus-based study. A total of 1,053 concordance lines retrieved from SketchEngine were analyzed using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), focusing on microstructural elements (Stylistic Framing, Euphemism, Agency Obfuscation, Formatting for Emotion, Proximity Emphasis, and Metaphor) and macrostructural elements (Sensationalism, Romantizciation of Violence, Victim–Perpetrator Relationship, Patriarchal Framing, Systemic Blame, and Quasi-humor). The findings demonstrate that Serbian reporting is heavily marked by sensationalist language (38.2%), with particularly frequent use of Stylistic Framing (71.3%), Euphemistic expressions (57.4%), and Agency Obfuscation (36.9%). American media, while more often neutral in tone (22.7%), still reveals firm reliance on Stylistic Framing (69.6%), Euphemisms (50%), and Agency Obfuscation (26,1%). At the macrostructural level, both corpora overwhelmingly employ Sensationalism 83.6% in Serbian
