A Strategic Leap Forward of Technology and Innovation in Construction Design for Economically Sustainable Houses in the UK
Despite the modest adoption rate of concrete steps towards sustainability, its emphasis has not drawn considerable attention in housing industry. Due to its popularity among construction projects and its use for the average person, the housing industry is a key area of attention when it comes to sustainabil-ity. Conventional homes in the UK have been associated with societal prob-lems, such as rising rent and mortgage expenses, high energy costs, and sub-par building performance. In order to address the economic risks connected with residential development today—a sector that demands substantial re-source input—the industry and stakeholders could employ informed actions. This paper evaluated studies on sustainable building and covered subjects such as managerial barriers to sustainable housing, political influence, popu-lar building regulations, and a brief examination of conventional homes. A quantitative approach was used to survey 200 professionals for the UK housing industry. As per the Bivariate correlation analysis Design manage-ment demonstrated a strong relationship with economic sustainability. This factor can be propagated by Building Standards which have a good correla-tion with economic sustainability according to the results, followed by tech-nology of Building Information Modelling (BIM), innovative approaches such as Passive House building designs, and Prefabricated Building construc-tion methods. SEM finding confirmed the impact of design implications to-wards economic sustainability. Whereas, partial mediation supporting role towards economic sustainability is observed for the BIM and building stand-ards and regulations.
