Seksuele synchronie: Seksuele opwinding als een dyadisch proces
This project will examine the processes that contribute to the experience of sexual intimacy in couples and assess how sexual arousal of both partners unfolds and interacts in a dyadic (research) setting. It will explore possible underlying mechanisms, including the role of (sexual) emotion regulation, perceived partner responsiveness, attachment, and sexual synchrony or co-regulation. The project will include the assessment of individual-and dyad-based variables, using self-report and psychophysiological measures. Several innovative research paradigms and measurement approaches will be explored and developed to study sexual synchrony (as a function of individual and relational characteristics) and how it contributes to sexual intimacy and satisfaction.
