Zeolieten voor duurzame productie van industriële bouwstenen

Zeolites are among the most important catalysts in the chemical industry and can be found in various applications, such as for catalysis of organic reactions and for abatement measures. Among all known zeolites, those derived from layered materials are among the most variable ones, as the layers can be expanded and modified with different compounds, leading to unique properties. During this PhD thesis, such zeolites will be utilised for the hydroisomerisation reaction, especially of lower alkanes (≥C4). For these reactions, the currently best reported catalysts are sulfated zirconia and Pt-H-Mordenite. However, the large pores of these materials lead to intermolecular reactions, which will be prevented in this PhD thesis by using platinum loaded COE-4, which has smaller pores that strongly favour intramolecular reactions. Process parameters and catalyst properties will be systematically investigated to understand the mechanisms and structure-activity-relationships for this catalyst. In a next step this knowledge will be used to test related layer derived materials in this reaction to identify, whether improved materials can be found. Finally, it will be tested whether some of the interesting catalysts investigated in this PhD thesis can also be used for other reactions, such as the methanol to olefin reaction or hydrocracking.
