Numerical Investigation Of Two-Fluid Magnetohydrodynamics Flow In Channels With Heat Flux

This study conducts 2D simulations of non-isothermal MHD flows in deformed channels to model helium ingress into liquid metal coolant in a nuclear reactor’s test blanket module. Results show that cavities significantly alter flow and
heat transfer, with magnetic fields amplifying these effects. The findings stress the importance of accounting for channel deformities and magnetic influences in reactor design and safety.

Abstract

This study conducts 2D simulations of non-isothermal MHD flows in deformed channels to model helium ingress into liquid metal coolant in a nuclear reactor’s test blanket module. Results show that cavities significantly alter flow and
heat transfer, with magnetic fields amplifying these effects. The findings stress the importance of accounting for channel deformities and magnetic influences in reactor design and safety.
