Hoogfrequente golven in de buitenste zonneatmosfeer
This thesis investigates the role of high-frequency waves in heating the upper layers of the solar atmosphere, addressing the long-standing coronal heating problem. Leveraging novel high-resolution instruments aboard Solar Orbiter and ground-based telescopes like the Microlensed Hyperspectral Imager (MiHI), we detect previously unresolved waves in small-scale solar structures. Our study reveals high-frequency kink waves in quiet Sun loops and torsional Alfvén waves in complex magnetic topologies, supported by numerical simulations and advanced spectral diagnostics. Additionally, we explore wave dynamics in the chromosphere using MiHI, focusing on the polarization of kink waves in fibrils. These findings provide new insights into wave-driven heating mechanisms and mark a significant step forward in our understanding of solar atmospheric dynamics.
