Elektrokatalytische Nitraatreductie tot Hydroxylamine in Zure Media
In the context of the growing interest in the NO3RR for its energy efficiency in producing valuable products and its environmental benefits in treating water pollution, most researches have predominantly focused on producing ammonia. However, the potential for the selective reduction of nitrate to hydroxylamine (NH2OH), a precursor in the synthesis of ε-caprolactam for Nylon-6 production, has often been overlooked. Compared to standard NO3RR reactions in neutral conditions that produce alkali metal hydroxide byproducts, acidic conditions provide ample protons for sustained NO3- hydrogenation. Traditionally, the application of NO3RR has been hampered by poor selectivity, low efficiency and instability in acidic conditions. To address these issues, this PhD work will apply a sustainable approach to address nitrate pollution and efficiently produce hydroxylamine.
