Toepassing van verbeterde gaschromatografische methoden met thermische desorptie in farmaceutische analyse
The analysis of volatiles is of interest in different fields. Gas chromatography (GC), combined with various sample introduction and detection techniques, is the method of choice for analysis of volatile substances. For complex matrices, conventional sample introduction techniques, like direct injection and headspace, do not always yield the required result. Therefore, in this research, thermal desorption (TD) prior to GC will be investigated. Although TD is not a new technique, its application in the pharmaceutical area is underexplored and deeper insights in some processes are highly welcome. First, multiple extraction TD will be optimized for the determination of residual solvents in modified cellulose. Other issues that will be tackled are related to the calibration, analysis of samples with considerable amounts of water and the transfer between TD and GC. This way, more efficient and robust methods can be developed.
