Electrocatalytic water oxidation by nickel complexes: the effect of coordination number and ligand backbone structure on their catalytic properties

Two Ni complexes are developed as homogeneous water oxidation catalyst with appreciable activity. This study finds that the annulation of ligand backbone causes enhancing catalytic activity via better electron donation and reduced steric hindrance.
