Technical Efficiency of Inpari Ir Nutri Zinc Rice Farming in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Inpari Nutri Zinc, a biofortified rice variety developed to address zinc deficiency and support nutritional food security in Indonesia, has not been widely studied from a technical efficiency perspective at the farm level. The study aimed to analyze efficiency and inefficiency, as well as the factors that affect the production of Inpari Nutri Zinc rice farming in Imogiri District, Bantul Regency. Using a census, sampling was conducted in three villages of Imogiri District: Selopamioro Village, Wukirsari Village, and Kebonagung Village. The sample was 125 farmers. The stochastic frontier approach to the production function analysis shows that land area variables, urea fertilisers, and liquid pesticides all have a big effect on how much Inpari Nutri Zinc rice is mad. Meanwhile, seed, phosphorus fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, manure, and labor variables did not significantly affect production. The technical efficiency level of Inpari Nutri Zinc rice is 0.617, which means that farming is not technically efficient. Variables of age, gender, farming experience, education level, land type, and land ownership status significantly affect technical inefficiencies. These results show that policy help is needed to make growing biofortified rice more effective. This help should focus on getting the most out of input and help farmers learn new skills.
