THE PROCESSES OF CONJUGATED HETEROPHASE CHEMICAL CONVERSION OF SULFIDE COMPOUNDS OF Cu, Zn AND Fe UNDER CRE CONDITIONS WITH THE FORMATION OF ELEMENTAL SULFUR
It has been demonstrated that under the effect of a chain gas-phase hydrocarbon chlorination reaction (CRE mode) and at certain CRE-process parameters (Cl₂:RH, τₖ, T, t), an intensive conjugated heterophase conversion of copper sulfide concentrate (chalcopyrite CuFeS₂), iron disulfide in the form of pyrite concentrate (pyrite FeS₂), and zinc sulfide concentrate (sphalerite ZnS) occurs at significantly reduced temperatures. It has been established that the CRE-processing of all studied sulfides begins with the formation of elemental sulfur (S), after which the formation of anhydrous chlorides of the corresponding metals (FeCl₃, CuCl₂, ZnCl₂) takes place. At the process temperatures, these chlorides sublime into the gas phase and are removed from the reactor by the flow of reacting gases. The formation and removal from the reaction zone of the products of the heterophase conjugated process (which are themselves valuable) occur separately (selectively and directionally) – both physically and temporally
