"THE MATING CRISIS": FACTORS THAT PREDICT MEN'S INTEREST IN DATING
"The Mating Crisis" is a recent phenomenon occurring worldwide, that has been popularly described as the scarcity of potential partners in the dating scene, contributing to a decline in intimate relationships and potentially leading to fewer offspring in the future. The purpose of this study was to examine potential factors that may contribute to men’s interest in dating within the context of the “Mating Crisis.” The current research explored whether self-perceived mate value, pornography consumption, video game consumption, and perception towards women (hostile sexism) predict men’s interest in dating. Data were collected from male participants and analyzed using multiple regression analysis to assess the significance of each predictor variable. Results revealed that none of the factors examined significantly predicted men’s interest in dating. Although the current study did not find statistically significant relationships, it offers insightful information about the current debate about the "mating crisis" and emphasizes the significance of further research into the factors influencing modern romantic relationships. These results also underscore the need for future research to consider additional factors or explore different perspectives of these factors that may better explain men’s participation and interest in dating.
