Creative Health Through Music Pedagogy: Case Studies in Identity, Listening, and Cultural Belonging in Higher Education
Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM). This is the peer-reviewed version accepted for publication in the International Journal of Arts Education. It does not include the publisher’s formatting, layout, or pagination. Abstract:This study explores how music education can facilitate creative health through pedagogies emphasising personal identity, deep listening, and cultural belonging. Using a practice-as-research design involving narrative inquiry and thematic analysis, three postgraduate projects in Singapore (2024–2025) were examined. Findings suggest that identity-affirming and listening-centred pedagogies can enhance well-being, emotional regulation, cultural pride, and social connectedness. The article positions music educators as cultural facilitators contributing to creative health and public health promotion. Final published version will be available via the International Journal of Arts Education (IJAE).
